BOSTON — Durham native Sam Fuld hit a two-run home run into right field Monday night in his first appearance at Fenway Park as a major league baseball player.
In only his second at-bat of the night, Fuld roped a ball that just barely squeaked past Pesky’s Pole in right field.
The home run contributed to a six-run second inning in which the Rays beat up Red Sox starting pitcher Daisuke Matsuzaka to take a 7-0 lead.
Fuld, who started in left field, has more than 30 friends and family members in attendance for his first game to Fenway. He is a graduate of Phillips Exeter Academy.
